“Oak” is another drawled out, screwed down release from ✘O ✘V ✘T that plays with the tempo of the track throughout its runtime. The tempo switch, along with his tone, makes “Oak” feel like two different songs completely; it’s safe to say he has his sound perfected, no problem. Comparatively, it boasts the same aesthetic as his more recent singles like “4L,” “When Will This End?,” and “Prada Aoyama / Down Bad.” Stream it below:
Subversively enigmatic as ever, ✘O ✘V ✘T is back at it again with the Halloween release of his latest EP, 001. I still don’t know much about the Montreal-based artist but lately he’s been releasing things with a bit more structure and consistency than usual. Hopefully, he keeps things up and his presence only increases from here on out.
Another vocalist making moves up north is this young man, Alex Fleming, who is known as Black Atlass. He released a short EP which was self-entitled about a year ago and has since signed with Fool's Gold Records. Montreal's Paul Labonté directed the video for "Paris" which depicts the 19-year-old playing the piano, and singing, intertwined with scenes of women perhaps thinking, or preparing, or maybe, falling.
