Nothing makes me more excited than clicking on an artist I’m unfamiliar with and being blessed with the sounds of their imagination. Daniel Caesar is a singer/song-writer based out of Toronto with a remarkable knack for creating beautiful vibes. That is, music you know that’s special, or maybe better expressed as music that is irrevocably mesmerizing.
Praise Break is Caesar’s latest project -- a seven track EP -- and I can earnestly say it’s one of the better projects I’ve heard this year. Upon its release, Caesar told Billboard that the EP itself encapsulates a feeling: "The phrase [praise break] has a double meaning. Usually in church, when the congregation is overcome by the Holy Spirit for a moment, the people will interrupt the sermon to yell their praises, and dance for joy.”
Lyrically, it's romantic, and sonically, it's soulful. These two facets combine to create a similar feeling reminiscent of the titular experience. It reminds you of church and the accompanying goodwill and love housed within. Go hear it.
